MOHAP oral assessment, DHA orals and the other second stages after a Prometric exam
You need an oral assessment only if your board assigns it to your title and file. Passing a computer exam does not settle that requirement.
Facts last verified 5 October 2026. Updated 6 October 2026.
Read the assessment on your application
An oral or viva is a spoken assessment. An objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) tests clinical skills. An employment interview may serve a different purpose. Prepare for the assessment named on your application.
| Board | Published rule | Licence guide |
|---|---|---|
| DHA, Dubai | Manual allows CBT, oral or both; Sheryan FAQ mentions only one assessment. Unlisted CBT specialties go to oral. Follow your Sheryan requirement. | DHA application |
| DOH, Abu Dhabi | Physician specialties outside the CBT list and all dental consultants have orals. Named dental specialists also have orals. Five emergency-care titles have CBT plus OSCE. | DOH application |
| MOHAP | Evaluation officer chooses exam or exemption by category. Exams can be written, oral or Prometric. We did not find an official title-by-title second-stage list. | MOHAP evaluation |
| SCFHS, Saudi Arabia | Oral sessions use Zoom and 1 to 4 stations over 20 to 90 minutes. Consultant interview order by specialty is not given. | SCFHS classification |
| DHP, Qatar | Scopes with no listed paper are handled case by case through qualification evaluation or an assessment panel. | DHP scope check |
| OMSB, Oman | Pharmacists and pharmacy assistants need the directorate VIVA before licensing. Private-sector nurses have interview or viva; government consultant interviews concern employment grades. | Oman licensing |
| NHRA, Bahrain | Tier 3 specialists trained abroad sit a Specialist Examination: electronic, written, short cases or interviews. | NHRA application |
| MOH, Kuwait | Named private-sector physician route: video interview if no specialty test exists. We did not find an official oral rule for dentists or pharmacists. | Kuwait physician route |

Prepare to explain a case
ProMCQ suggests practising your assessment and plan aloud in English, with a timer. Ask for the reading list. DOH directs study-material requests to exam@doh.gov.ae.
DOH exams are in English; translators cannot attend orals. DHA forbids private contact with panel members about results or feedback. Use the authority’s support route.
ProMCQ covers written papers and does not simulate orals. A licence transfer also needs its own approval. Read UAE licence-transfer conditions before treating a DHA eligibility letter as an active licence.
After a failed oral
DHA’s panel cannot lower the title it assesses. Major competency gaps can reduce allowed attempts to 1 or 2. After a third failure, DHA blocks new applications for 2 years.
SCFHS sends the file back to classification after attempts are exhausted. Oman’s private-sector nursing SOP permits 2 more attempts after a failed interview or viva. Follow your board’s results and retake route.
