Prometric exam books: what each Gulf board lists, and where a question bank fits
Use a question bank for timed practice and a listed book to check weak topics. Your board’s outline decides what to study.

Use the outline before the book list
A reading list does not promise where questions come from. The SMLE Applicant Guide calls its references a study aid. Qatar’s dental list is guidance and asks you to check current editions with publishers.

A study cycle to try
This is ProMCQ’s suggested method. Start with a timed paper to learn the pace. Sort wrong answers by the board’s outline section.
- Read the answer explanation. Check the matching chapter in one listed book.
- If references disagree on a dose or treatment, check the current guideline and edition that applies.
- Practise weak sections with new questions. Keep a slot for any national law or ministry manuals on your list.
Check what a question bank contains
Look for original questions that fit your paper’s outline, with explanations. A recalled question or answer may be remembered wrongly.
SCFHS bans rebuilding exam content from memory. DHA treats exam material as confidential. Prometric warns that sellers claiming official DHA content are unauthorised. See exam scams and recall warnings.
