Facts last verified 5 October 2026.
Check your MOHAP title before you book: Pharmacist, Clinical Pharmacist or Specialized Pharmacist. Each title has its own rules for your degree and work experience.
Is this the right paper for you?
Use this practice for Pharmacist. Clinical Pharmacist and Specialized Pharmacist have their own rules.
- You need a BSc in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy, then 2 years of related work.
- The licensing service allows no work gap over 2 years.
- A listed-country licence or EPREE may let you skip the exam. Recent qualification, continuous practice and English rules apply; read licence steps.

What the paper covers
We did not find published section weights for the MOHAP paper for pharmacists. ProMCQ's mock papers use the published Qatar DHP blueprint for pharmacists as practice targets. These are not MOHAP's own weights. Each mock includes national-topic content, so its final question shares can differ slightly from these targets.
- Basic Biomedical Sciences (4.7%): Study how the body works and how disease affects drug action.
- Pharmaceutical Sciences (25.3%): Work out doses, dilutions and strengths. Study how the body handles drugs.
- Social/Behavioral/Administrative Sciences (25.3%): Learn UAE pharmacy law and keep medicines safe.
- Clinical Sciences (44.7%): Choose a drug, dose or advice for each case. Learn when to refer.
Sample questions
These are eight original ProMCQ practice questions with explanations. We did not find an official format for your paper. Select an answer to see the explanation.
A patient with COPD is stable on a LABA inhaler alone. What is the most appropriate action?
- Replace LABA with inhaled corticosteroid
- Continue the LABA monotherapy
- Add an inhaled corticosteroid
- Replace LABA with a SABA
Answer
B. LABA monotherapy is acceptable and commonly used in COPD. An inhaled corticosteroid is reserved for specific phenotypes rather than being required for every COPD patient.
Which requirements apply when compounding a sterile hazardous drug?
- Apply USP <795> and USP <800>
- Apply USP <795> and USP <797>
- Apply USP <800> instead of <797>
- Apply USP <797> and USP <800>
Answer
D. Hazard status adds USP <800> personnel-protection requirements to the sterile-compounding requirements of USP <797>; neither chapter replaces the other.
A hospital will use a single test result to decide whether to start a toxic and costly therapy. Starting the therapy in patients who do not have the disease would expose them to serious harm, so false alarms must be kept to a minimum. Which test property should the hospital prioritise?
- High sensitivity
- High negative predictive value
- High specificity
- Low positive likelihood ratio
Answer
C. When the aim is to confirm disease and avoid false positives before committing to a harmful or expensive therapy, high specificity (TN ÷ (TN + FP)) is prioritised. High specificity reduces false positives among disease-free patients. Whether a positive result establishes enough certainty to start therapy also depends on sensitivity and pre-test probability.
A 44-year-old woman's parenteral nutrition order is being transcribed. The prescriber has written the sodium, potassium and calcium additives in milliequivalents. For consistency, the prescriber has asked that the glucose content be recorded in the same units as the electrolytes. In which unit should the pharmacist record the glucose content?
- Milliequivalents
- Milliequivalents per litre
- Milliequivalents per mL
- Millimoles
Answer
D. A millimole counts formula units, and a milliequivalent counts the charge of a specified ion. Glucose carries no charge, so it is expressed in mass or mmol, never in mEq.
A 66-year-old woman had her antihypertensive changed and has half a bottle of the old tablets left. The product is not on the flush list, and there is no take-back programme or collection event in her area. She asks how to get rid of them safely at home. Which method should the pharmacist describe?
- Flush them down the toilet
- Bin them in the original bottle
- Place loose tablets in the bin
- Mix with cat litter, seal, then bin
Answer
D. For a non-flush product with no take-back option, remove the medicine from its container, mix it with something unappealing such as used coffee grounds, sawdust or cat litter, seal it in a bag, empty can or lidded container and put it in the household trash.
During a Lean redesign of a satellite pharmacy, staff find that large quantities of rarely used injectables are bought in bulk and held on the shelves. Much of this stock reaches its expiry date before it is used and has to be discarded. Which Lean waste does this finding represent?
- Inventory
- Overproduction
- Transport
- Waiting
Answer
A. Lean lists seven wastes: transport, inventory, motion, waiting, overproduction, over-processing and defects. Buying or storing excess supplies, especially stock that expires before use, is inventory waste. The Lean fix is to keep small amounts of commonly used drugs with an efficient replenishment system and to rotate stock to prevent expiry.
A patient's culture yields a Gram-negative rod. Oxidase reagent applied to the colony becomes dark purple within 20 seconds. Which organism is most likely?
- Escherichia coli
- Klebsiella species
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa
- Proteus species
Answer
C. A rapid dark-purple oxidase reaction indicates cytochrome c oxidase; among these Gram-negative rods, this identifies Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
A 70-year-old man was dispensed 10 fewer antihypertensive tablets than prescribed; the shortfall was noticed and corrected the next day. A month later he had a stroke, which the clinical review attributes to longstanding uncontrolled disease unrelated to the missing tablets. He alleges negligence against the pharmacist. Which negligence element does the review's finding fail to satisfy?
- Duty of care
- Breach of duty
- Causation
- Damage
Answer
C. An error alone does not establish negligence: duty, breach, damage and a causal connection between breach and damage must all be established. Here duty, breach and damage exist, but the stroke is attributed to unrelated disease, so causation fails.

- Find red flags that need referral before you choose an OTC drug.
- Study UAE pharmacy law, formulary and regulatory notes.
- Learn why drug pairs interact. Revise enzyme inhibition, QT prolongation, bleeding and serotonin effects.
